Do you know where the "Dollar" comes from?

My mind sometimes thinks very random things.
While doing something completely different and unrelated, I suddenly wondered why we call the US Dollar a dollar.
Obviously, at least for me, the etymology of the word dollar wasn’t on my radar.
So I did the most recommendable thing: I Googled it.
Here’s my finding:
The word "dollar" originated in 16th-century Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. Here, the "Joachimsthaler" silver coin was minted. "Joachimsthaler" comes from Joachimsthal, the silver-mining valley. German "thal," meaning "valley," gave rise to "thaler."
Due to their consistent silver content and weight, these coins became known as "thalers" and became popular. Europe gradually adopted thaler variations. Dutch called it "daler," and English-speaking countries called it "dollar."
Meanwhile, the Spanish peso, known as the "piece of eight" for its eight reales value, was widely circulated in the American colonies and called the "Spanish dollar."

This influenced US terminology. After declaring independence, the U.S. chose the "dollar" to name its currency, influenced by the Spanish and Dutch dollars.
A day like today, August 8th, but in 1786, the US Congress chose the dollar as the monetary unit of the United States, and it was first minted by the United States Mint in 1792
